Thing 10...RSS Feeds

When it came to choosing an RSS reader…I chose to work through Google Reader. I picked Google Reader, because I already had an account with google setup and then all I had to learn to do was, “How to subscribe to different feeds?!” I picked several feeds. I picked mostly feeds that had to do with stuff back home, Dallas. For example, I picked the Dallas Morning News, the McAllen Monitor, and even the Ennis Daily Newspaper…which are all newspapers from back home. I liked the fact that using the Google Reader subscriptions keeps me all up to date and I can click on the links and read up on the news and events that occur back home. Having learned how to complete this whole RSS process was a learning activity that will come in handy for me.

Using the RSS feeds can come in handy to use in the classroom. For example, when needing to use the newspaper feeds as examples in a certain activity or a subject-content lesson. A teacher could easily pull up different feeds for the lessons/activities.

Learning to use the RSS feeds is a good advantage of technology for teachers!! Good thing we learned about it in EDUC 3040!! Thanks, Dr. Jerles!!
